Higher Margins, Less Effort: SwiPay and the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce Are Moving Forward Together
The Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and SwiPay AG have entered into an official partnership—with a clear goal: to finally give member companies back control over their payment processes.
Any merchant or service provider in Liechtenstein who accepts card payments knows the feeling: You know fees are involved. But exactly how much, why, and whether that’s actually in line with market rates—that usually remains a mystery. The bill arrives, you pay, and that’s it.
This is no coincidence. The card acceptance business is complex, there are many providers, and the fee structure—with interchange fees, card scheme fees, and acquirer service fees—isn’t exactly designed to be understood at first glance. For owner-operated businesses that want to focus on their core operations, this is simply a problem.
This is exactly where the new partnership between the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce and SwiPay comes in.
What’s behind the partnership?
SwiPay is an independent payment network based in Switzerland. Its business model is as simple as it is rare: SwiPay advises, compares, and guides merchants in selecting the right payment solution—without acting as a payment service provider itself. This means: no conflict of interest, no vendor lock-in, and no hidden commissions behind the scenes.
The Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce brings together its approximately 1,000 member companies from 27 industry associations—retailers, tradespeople, service providers, and restaurateurs. These are businesses that process card payments on a daily basis and often simply don’t have the time to systematically compare the market.
The partnership now gives member companies privileged access to what SwiPay does best: simplifying complexity and bringing clarity.
What You Get as a WKLi Member
We’ve intentionally kept the entry barrier low. No initial consultation with unclear intentions, no product presentation that ends up going off on all sorts of tangents.
Free Payment Analysis: SwiPay reviews your current payment solution—terms, fees, contract terms, and device setup. The result is a clear picture of what you’re paying today and what’s realistically possible.
Personal Support: No call centers, no forms sent into the void. A dedicated contact person will guide you from the initial consultation through to commissioning—and beyond.
Independent advice: SwiPay is not affiliated with any provider. This means that our recommendations are based on your needs, not on sales commissions.
Transparent Terms: As a WKLi member, you benefit from standard terms that SwiPay has negotiated with acquirers and technology partners—advantages that a single company would be unlikely to secure on its own.
How the Payment System Really Works—and Why You Should Know This
Every card payment processed by your business costs money. These costs—known as a discount or merchant service charge—consist of three parts:
Interchange Fee (ICF): The cardholder’s bank receives the largest share. This rate is regulated by the card organizations and is non-negotiable.
Card Scheme Fee (CSF): Visa, Mastercard, and others take their cut. These costs are also fixed.
Acquirer Service Fee (ASF): This is the part that’s actually negotiable—and this is exactly where the right partner makes all the difference. SwiPay negotiates framework terms for its merchants that result in fair ASF rates.
That sounds technical—and it is. But the point is: You don’t have to figure it all out yourself. SwiPay does exactly that for you, shows you the breakdown, and explains where there’s potential.
Who Benefits from the Partnership
The partnership is designed for member companies of the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce—that is, for companies that conduct business in the Principality and accept card payments or plan to do so.
This offer is particularly relevant for:
- Retailers and specialty stores that process many transactions daily and where even small differences in fees can make a noticeable difference
- The restaurant and hotel industries, where table and bar payments are made using various cards and often without a minimum amount
- Small businesses and service providers that need mobile payment solutions but currently have few suitable options available when on the go
- Newly founded companies that want to establish a clear payment structure from the start, rather than realizing two years down the road that their initial provider was simply the most expensive
The Process—Three Steps, No Hassle

Fill out the form on the partner site—it won’t take more than five minutes. Company name, industry, approximate annual revenue, contact information.
Step 2: Personal Feedback
The SwiPay team usually responds within 24 hours. No automated funnel, no newsletter opt-in—just a real person who takes a look at your setup.
Step 3: Analysis and Decision
You’ll receive a clear breakdown of your current costs and a comparison with what SwiPay could offer. Then you decide—no pressure, no deadline.

A network that is more than just technology
What sets SwiPay apart from a mere device provider or an acquirer is its approach. SwiPay sees itself as a network—not as a product seller.
In concrete terms, this means that an optician starting out today who plans to open a second location in two years or enter the e-commerce market won’t be provided with a solution that will no longer be suitable tomorrow. SwiPay thinks ahead. The solution scales with the business.
For the Liechtenstein Chamber of Commerce, this was precisely a key criterion: entering into a partnership that brings real added value to its members—not just at the initial contact, but over the long term.
